We have a customer who wants to convert an A&G request into a referral for booking internally in their PAS. They want to inform the GP that they have converted the referral internally so the A&G request can be closed.
Are we able to use the A026 (Not A027) to respond to the GP and set the status to PROVIDER_CONVERTED. We do not want the A&G request to go onto a Referral for Booking list, we just want to mark it as converted and ask the GP to close the conversation.
If we set this status using A026, does it go onto the Referral for Booking list anyway? Can the the GP still see the response? Can the GP close the conversation anyway?
Some advice would be appreciated!
Jim Brock
Hi Jim
Apologies we are a little low on numbers in the team, we are not ignoring you and will respond soon. Just a little backlog to work through
Hi @jim.brock - The status of “PROVIDER_CONVERTED_ADVICE_AND_GUIDANCE_ADMIN_TO_REFER” is a consequence of the A027 convert action, it can’t be placed in that status any other way.
For this scenario, I would suggest the provider sends a response back to the referrer informing them that they have converted internally (is this happening outside of e-RS?), and requesting them to close the A&G request. Referrers always retain this ability.
Hi Zubeir,
Thanks for your reply.
In the A026 documentation, in the Response Outcome there is the PROVIDER_CONVERTED status. What is this?
Your suggestion about sending RETURN_WITH_ADVICE stating that the referral is converted internally is what we are thinking too. Converting to a referral internally is outside of eRS. We are concerned about the GP converting to a referral even though we’ve stated we’ve done this internally. That’s what we were hoping to prevent
Hi @jim.brock - When an SCP converts an A&G request, they have 2 options:
- Convert themselves - this allows them to either create a new shortlist of services, book an appointment, or send to a triage service. This action would have an outcome as PROVIDER_CONVERTED. This flow isn’t supported via the API, only through the Pro App atm
- Task an admin to convert - this converts the A&G to a referral and places on the providers AFB worklist for an admin to pick up later. This action has the PROVIDER_CONVERTED_ADVICE_AND_GUIDANCE_ADMIN_TO_REFER status.
I get the concern over GP conversion, but they already have that option open to them so I think the risk would be the same?
I think some comms and a standard operating procedure may help prevent it.
