We have a client looking to utilise SCR/GP Connect.
I know that GP Connect is not ready for private providers at the moment (even if they have an NHS contract).
The webpage describing SCR is a little vague - does anyone know whether I would be able to advise our client that they can use SCR? If yes, are all of the connection options available to them?
They are a large mental health inpatient hospital, where their majority of patients are private, but they also have a NHS stream.
Thanks!
Hi Tim,
As your client has an NHS contract, they can apply for SCR access. Please use the form on the website here: Summary Care Record new interest form - NHS England Digital where they can also state their preferred method of access.
Providers of Private Care are not currently in scope of approval for rollout of Summary Care Record viewing access:
Summary Care Record - NHS England Digital
Proof of concept pilots are currently in progress within non-approved care settings. Discussions around the policy and strategy for private providers accessing SCR/NCRS are in progress and Private Providers can still log their interest at the link above.
Thanks, Clare.
HI Claire
*Ask for the patient’s permission to view the SCR and record it, or choose the emergency access option if the patient is unconscious or can’t answer, and add a reason for access.

What’s the definition of “record” here? Is it possible to download / export the SCR record in any way?
Thanks
Tim
