Ophthalmic Payments API

Hi,

I’m really struggling here to find out how to get onboarding to the Ophthalmic Payments API for a patient management system (PMS) so practices can submit eGOS.

I’ve emailed and phoned but nobody knows the correct department to direct me to.

The onboarding of this API isn’t available in the NHS digital developer portal, it says request only and then points to a page with just an email.

I get no response on this email.

If anybody knows about how to gain access to this API, i would be very appreciative.

Thanks.

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for raising your question. At present, this API is not available on the Digital Onboarding Service. Instead, you will need to contact the team directly about wanting to onboard onto Ophthalmic Payments API.

The team’s contact email is pcse.pmsegos@nhs.net

Please feel free to understand more about the API here

I hope this helps.

Thank you

Thank you for your response.

I’ve tried many many times to email that address but do not get a response back.

It makes me believe that the email is no longer monitored.

Do you have another form of contact? Telephone number? Another email address?

Regards,

Sandeep

Hello. I’ve been trying to link my software to the pcse payments via API for the past 3years. I’ve exhausted all means. I think I have no choice but to take some drastic action. I spoke to someone at aop multiple times who also had same issues. I sent them this email this morning

PMSEGOS, Pcse (PRIMARY CARE SUPPORT) pcse.pmsegos@nhs.net

Dear PCSE Support Team / Ophthalmic Payments Team,

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the handling of my request to integrate iOptician Software with the eGOS system via API.

This process began in December 2023 — over two and a half years ago. Despite my persistent efforts, including more than 20 emails and numerous phone calls to various individuals at PCSE, NHS England, the Association of Optometrists (AOP), LOSCU, and Capita, I have received no meaningful resolution. The delays, unanswered emails, and broken promises of follow-up have caused significant and ongoing financial loss to my business and to the optometry practices that subscribe to iOptician Software.

To summarise the current position:

• Onboarding documentation was submitted in December 2023.

• Test account credentials were eventually provided in May 2024.

• UAT environment links and a certificate were shared in April 2024.

• Since then, despite repeated chasing, there has been no further progress, no confirmation that testing is complete, and no pathway to live API access.

• My last email in June 2025 received no reply whatsoever.

This is simply not acceptable. My development team has been kept waiting for over two years at enormous cost. I have been patient and cooperative throughout this process, and I have fulfilled every request made of me promptly.

I am now formally requesting the following, in writing, within 30 working days:

1. Confirmation of the current status of my eGOS API integration application.

2. A named point of contact who will take ownership of this case from this point forward.

3. A clear, written timeline for completing the onboarding and granting live API access.

4. An explanation for the repeated failure to respond to my communications.

Please be advised that if I do not receive a satisfactory response within the timeframe above, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter formally. This may include raising a complaint with NHS England, contacting my MP, and seeking independent legal advice regarding the financial losses incurred as a direct result of these delays.

I trust that this matter will now be treated with the urgency it deserves.

Yours sincerely,

Email: ioptician.soft@gmail.com

Thanks for the response.

Who did you contact in the beginning to get test credentials and certification?

Would really appreciate any help. It’s very frustrating.

Let me know how you get on, I haven’t even got as far as you have.

Regards,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

email address the egospms one , which unfortunately seems to be the one that’s not responding at the moment. At the beginning, they did reply and I was able to make some progress, but each time things started moving forward, I was told there had been team or staff changes and that someone else would get back to me. This happened a few times.

Over the past year and a half, I haven’t received any response at all. It took about a year of effort just to get as far as I did, but even then, the credentials I was given didn’t work the password they gave me wasn’t accepted and that’s where I’ve been stuck since.

I’ll let you know if I manage to get any further, but at the moment I haven’t been able to progress beyond that point.

Kind regards,

Ps. What is this forum about ? For API in nhs
