Our onboarding to Pharmacy First links us to this page
https://digital.nhs.uk/developer/api-catalogue/directory-of-services-urgent-and-emergency-care-rest
However it is highlighted at the top that this API is being deprecated May 2026, and will be replaced by a new FHIR based API.
Are there any details re this new api, is there any point us building against a soon to be deprecated API?
Hi @Jon_Flitcroft ,
Thank you for raising your question. I’ve just been liaising with the REST API team offline and migration dates are yet to be announced to connecting parties. Can you please confirm the end-points you’re interested in, please?
Thanks again.
The use case is when a Pharmacy First Urgent. Med supply cannot be fulfilled by the initial pharmacy, they are required to use DoS to find a suitable pharmacy to refer patient onto
According to the documentation we are working against
it is the REST api
Thank you @Jon_Flitcroft for the additional context. I’m going to connect with the REST API team and will provide you with an update.
@Zeeshan_Saeed Hi!
we have received below email
The information provided in Additional details for the Directory of Services (DoS) REST API for Titanverse DoS & MESH - (DoS) REST API has been approved.
The assessor provided this feedback:
Thank you, We have now approved your usecase for the DOS REST API By Service Type endpoint. Please could you confirm: - your expected volumes of requests to this endpoint - your expected timelines for development Integrated Search Team, Directory of Services
on responding to the email with requested info, i received an email saying inbox is not monitored, so have reply below
Based on our customer base we will have upwards of 600 customers using this, potentially more. However the calling of the DoS endpoint, will only be required if users cannot complete the referral and need to advise the patient to try elsewhere, so it is hard to put a number on this.
We were accepted on to the Community Pharmacy onboarding program on the 9th Jan 2026, and have been given deadlines of 13th March, which, based on reading the documentation, I am not sure is acheivable.
To progress our development I believe we now need auth credentials setting up.
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated
