Is it possible to search for or retrieve an organisation’s details by its ASID using the ODT FHIR R4 API or the SDS FHIR API?

(I need org code and org name).

ASIDs do not form part of the ODS record I’m afraid so cannot be retrieved from the ODT FHIR R4 API. I’m unable to comment re SDS FHIR API, hopefully someone else can advise.

Hi Bob,

I’m pretty sure the SDS FHIR API can’t do that at the moment. It might be something we can look at in the future (but don’t hold your breath). Can you elaborate on your use case?

Thanks Tony - in the Demographic Spine Application, we include the source of updates to demographic data in the PDS Edit screen so that NBO, PCS etc can see who made the update.

When that source has come via Spine messaging, it is sometimes just an ASID (if the update didn’t come from a GP Practice, Pharmacy or DSA itself), which is almost completely meaningless to end users. When it is, we enrich it with the org details that we currently derive indirectly via an LDAP search on that ASID.

This data is fairly slow moving so we have a stop-gap solution, but I’d be interested to know if it’s likely to become part of the SDS FHIR API.

(It would be useful for Spine to do this enrichment on receipt, but that’s for another day I think…)
