Finding UK-only SNOMED-CT code subsets?

I’m looking for the data source that powers the UK SNOMED-CT browser (view here).

I’ve downloaded the International SNOMED CT (SNOMED CT International Edition) codes from TRUD, but only a subset of these codes (i.e. UK SNOMED CT) is valid for use in the UK. Furthermore, I think these are denoted by the active property on the UK SNOMED-CT browser.

I also tried downloading SNOMED CT UK Clinical Edition from TRUD, but the description files seem to be too small.

Any ideas on a concrete way to obtain UK-valid SNOMED CT concepts in bulk?

The source for the NHS SNOMED CT Browser is the ‘SNOMED CT UK Monolith Edition, RF2: Snapshot’.
Also, the active property is sourced from the sct2_Concept_Snapshot_… file

Just for information the full SNOMED CT UK Edition is available on our NHS England Terminology Server.

The NHS England Terminology Server is a FHIR Web API that is a game changer in accessing SNOMED data. You don’t need to worry about loading the SNOMED RF2 files and creating queries to replicate the SNOMED structure. You query SNOMED CT data directly using HTTP requests and SNOMED’s own Expression Constraint Language. Reply to this message if you want further information.

Hello - please do tell me more

Hello @Faraz_Malik

Have a good read of the The NHS England Terminology Server - NHS England Digital web pages.

If you want to have a play with the SNOMED data and ECL I would recommend starting with the Terminology Server browser (called Shrimp).

You will find a link to Shrimp on this page: Learn about the NHS England Terminology Server - Delen: Home - NHS England, which also includes videos on how to use Shrimp and how to write ECL statements against the Terminology Server. Please feedback your thoughts here on these resources :+1:

Let me know of any further questions.

Is it possible to to $validate-code on RefSet on the Terminology Server.

@Faraz_Malik has asked this here Finding SNOMED-CT codes which are QOF - NHS Spine & APIs Support - openhealthhub.org (I am assuming QOF is one or more refesets)

Yes it is possible to $validate-code on a SNOMED reference set. The link to the question above has also made its way into this NHS Development community here: Finding SNOMED-CT codes which are QOF - API Platform - NHS England Developer Community. I will answer the question against that ticket.
