eRS APIs - Referrer Information

I’m trying to find out which GP Practice sent in a referral.

Looking at the A005 response, the best I can do is look at an attachments “Extension-eRS-AttachedByOrganisation”. But what if there are no attachments (some trusts allow the GP to simply write in the notes rather than attach a referral letter)

There’s also the “Extension-eRS-Commissioning-Rule-Org-1” but that doesn’t appear to be entirely appropriate as this could be the ICB rather than the GP practice.

Am I missing something? Where is the referrer information? Isn’t this a very important bit of information?

Hi @jim.brock - See my previous response to something very similar; it’s available on the PDF from A007.

On your point about there being no attachments on e-RS. How are the trusts receiving referrals in that case?

e-RS requires clinical referral information to be present for the receiving service to view/review the referral. Without this the referral remains on the referrers worklist to add.

Thanks Zubeir, that’s very helpful.

Regarding the clinical information, unless this has changed, we hit a problem where a setting in eRS allows the GP to enter text as the clinical information without attaching a referral letter. The referral went onto the “referrals for review” list, we were able to download the Clinical Information Summary which contained the notes, but there were no attachments.

Thanks @Jim

In this scenario, the structured clinical data (added via an integrated GP system) is the ‘referral letter’ so the rule still holds. Adding an attachment via this process is optional, and depends on local process/users.
