e-RS Different APIs with different accounts

We already use e-RS APIs through a provider called CareMotive. We now need to be able to call the A005 and A042 APIs but these two are not supported by CareMotive so we are considering interfacing directly with the NHS Digital API.

The question is, if we obtain a UBRN as part of the existing process using the CareMotive API, can we then go on to use the UBRN in a subsequent direct call to the A005 API? (I guess using a separate NHS Digital account)
Thanks for your help,
Rinaldo

Hi Rinaldo
What you have described should work providing you are able to setup the APIM side of the proxy with access to the same organisation(s) as you are receiving through your existing provider.

Hi @Rinaldo_Tempo welcome to the e-RS dev community. Following your conversation with Steve above, please note that we have an NHS e-RS FHIR API Partner Onboarding Team and website to guide you through the onboarding process.

Here is the more detailed information:

Thank you for your email and interest in the e-RS FHIR API service.

Please see the e-RS FHIR API documentation website and onboarding video which will provide the information required to understand the API, set up for development, then build, assure, release and maintain your product. There is also important information on maintenance, adding functionality, adding new sites and API updates (including the sunsetting policy, deprecation notices, migration guides, upcoming releases and planned roadmap changes)

It is imperative to ensure all of this information is read and understood prior to development. Here is a breakdown of the site content:

  1. Stage 1: Design

  2. 1.2 Validate your use case

  3. 1.3 Explore our FHIR API

  4. 1.4 Select your authorisation level

  5. 1.5 Find other NHS services

  6. 1.6 Review our integration criteria

  7. 1.7 Learn how to onboard

  8. 1.8 Register with us

  9. Stage 2: Build

  10. Stage 3: Assure

  11. Stage 4: Release

  12. Stage 5: Maintain

  13. Updates & releases

Here is the 1.7 Learn how to onboard section which includes our onboarding video. Please note though that the video was created in April 2023 so please do ensure you refer to section 1.3 mentioned above for the latest capability available as we are adding to this regularly.

If you are an Independent Sector Provider, please also see this guidance.

If a supplier is providing you with an assured product as a tenanted solution that is managed by your end user organisation, please let us know as this is a slightly different onboarding process.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to fill out a registration form, at 1.8 Register with us in order to proceed with onboarding.

Best Regards,
The e-RS FHIR API Partners Team
