Set up your profile

It’s a good idea to add some information about you here before you start interacting with the community. We suggest your job role, and your nhs.net email address, if available.

Select your initial in the utility navigation, top right (shown as ‘K’ in the image here). Then select Profile indicated by the person icon.

Choose Preferences from the menu that appears. You’ll see a number of options in a new navigation bar.

Categories

Categories are the main way the Developer Community organises conversations. Each category represents a specific NHS service, API, or theme, such as PDS, MESH, NHS login or API Platform.

Categories help you quickly find posts, ask questions in the right place, and get support from the right product teams.

All categories are listed on the left on the home page. Choose the service you’re working with to see related posts.

Read about how to create and manage categories.

Tags

Tags are optional labels you can add to a topic to give extra context.

They don’t replace categories – they sit alongside them.

Here’s what that means in practice:

  • Tags only apply at the topic level, not individual replies.
  • Every topic already belongs to a category, so the right product team will see it even if no tags are used.
  • Tags are mainly there to help with filtering, spotting patterns in user queries, and grouping similar posts across multiple categories.

Select Tags and then All tags in the toolbar on the left to find a tag, and select it to see all topics associated with that tag.

Search

You can search for any key word or key words from the Developer Community home page, or by selecting the search icon in the utility navigation top right.
