Meet the NIR Team!

Hello! The NIR team would like to introduce ourselves to the wider NHSE Developer community, as we will be engaging with and meeting a lot of you on calls as the product develops, we wanted you to have an idea of who we are and what we do! Nice to meet you all - the team will introduce themselves on this thread and tell you a little bit about themselves.

Excited to introduce myself to the community. I’m Cherie, the Product Owner on NIR.

My background is in Computer Science, and I’ve spent the last 6+ years in the healthcare space specialising in integration and interoperability, working on everything from standard architecture to complex, highly bespoke interfaces.

Because of my background, I love getting into the technical weeds, but my real passion lies at the intersection of tech and product strategy. I’m a big believer in systems thinking, design thinking, and rapid experimentation. I like to challenge assumptions, think outside the box, and make sure we’re building things that actually solve real problems.

Off the clock, I run a YouTube gaming channel and am currently losing a losing battle against a book collection that is rapidly outgrowing my house. :books::video_game:

Looking forward to collaborating with you all! Feel free to hit me up anytime to talk healthcare tech, product strategy, or what’s on your steam wishlist!

Hi all, I’m a developer with a background in healthcare software in the NHS. I’ve spent around five years working across digital design, clinical services, and large-scale data pipelines.

At work I enjoy about building scalable, well-designed, cobby solutions, as well as working in a lively team and communicating across interdisciplinary squads. Outside the office I’m a big science-fiction fan - “Beam me up, Obi-Wan.”

Looking forward to collaborating with you all. Drop me a message any time to talk about tech for good or the nitty gritty of particular software solutions.

Hi everyone! I’m the Engagement Lead for NIR.

My background is healthcare with brief stints in higher education and not-for-profits. I’ve spent around 18 years working across clinical services, digital transformation and large-scale NHS England programmes. These days, I work mostly at the intersection of technology, transformation, product adoption and most importantly effective commercial <> NHS engagement.

I’m not a developer, but I do enjoy getting into the detail. I’m also quite happy challenging an assumption or asking the annoying “but why are we doing it that way?” question if it helps us get to a better answer.

Outside work, I have far too many interests competing for my attention - writing, naturopathy, crystals, foraging, languages, travel and my elaborate plan to go off grid and bottle my own herbs.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Feel free to tag or message me anytime - whether it’s about NIR, onboarding, healthcare tech, an idea you want to sense-check, or something completely unrelated! :waving_hand:t5:

Hello, I’m a developer on the NIR project.

I’ve worked in the NHS for twenty-six years as a senior developer and development team manager at large Acute Trusts in the North West & Northumbria. For the last ten years I have focused on health interoperability at a regional level, being heavily involved in the Shared Care Record programme, implementing many IHE profiles (XDS, XCA, DSUB, XDW)

In my spare time, I play in several brass bands and liken the conductor of a band to NIR, orchestrating all the players to produce the desired outcome.

Hi, I’m also a Software Developer on the NIR project. I have worked in development for 5 years and prior to this was a Business Analyst.

I’ve predominantly worked in healthcare during this time and have experience with NHS England in areas such as IAM, Vaccinations and Demographics.

While waiting for build pipelines to run, I enjoys crosswords, watching football and casual gardening.

Hello! I’m Daisy, the Technical Lead for NIR

I’ve worked in tech for over a decade, primarily in the healthcare domain across various devops, platform, and tech lead roles. There’s nothing I enjoy more than untangling a gruesome bug!

Away from the work laptop, I spend my time flitting between various arts, crafts, books and boardgames. :yarn: :artist_palette: :game_die:

Excited to work with you all on the interoperability puzzle that is NIR - tag me if you want to talk about any of the more technical aspects of the project :sparkles:

Hi - I’m a business analyst on the project.

Prior to this, I was a management consultant specialising in strategy and operating model work across both the private and public sectors.

Outside of work, I’m training to compete in the national circuit in padel. I’m also trying to run a sub-18 min 5K.

Outside of training, I play poker (really badly) and I’m also a big foodie so restaurant recommendations are always welcome!

Hi there. I’m Damine, the Tiger Team Coordinator for NIR. I’ll be the main point of contact, helping Trusts and imaging networks through onboarding, from the early stages of DOS right through to go-live.

My background is 13 years across healthtech, the NHS, government and education, mostly sitting between technical teams, stakeholders and end users. What I really enjoy about this role specifically is taking something that looks complicated on paper and making it feel manageable for the people actually going through it.

Outside of work, I’m a mediocre weightlifter, currently on a slow, stubborn mission to deadlift twice my bodyweight. Progress is real but humbling, and it takes a lot of food.

Looking forward to meeting you all on calls. Feel free to say hello anytime!

Hi all, I’m a User Researcher on the NIR team.

I’ll be the one on the trying to book time with you over video calls, in person, or (fingers crossed) site visits to understand how your services currently run, what you need to help make things better and to track the impact NIR has as it rolls out across the country.

My background is 10-years+ in user research, service design, UX and product management. Across start-ups, scale-ups and enterprise. I like getting into the messy, ambiguous bits, tracking down the people and teams everyone assumes are out of reach, and making sure what gets built actually reflects how things really work, not how the docs say they work.

Outside work I love reading sci-fi. Otherwise I’m mostly in the kitchen or over the BBQ when I can be. Making ice cream, baking bread, and trying to justify a pizza oven on “research grounds.”

I’m looking forward to working with you all. Please say hi anytime, whether it’s NIR, research, or cooking or a good sci-fi recommendation!

Hi, I’m Kira, the Delivery Manager for the National Imaging Registry (NIR).

I’ve worked in NHS digital transformation for a number of years, with much of my background focused on diagnostics and the challenge of connecting services, systems and organisations across the NHS.

Before NIR, I led and delivered work across radiology, pathology and other diagnostic services, including imaging integration, digital pathology, LIMS and AI-enabled stroke imaging. That experience has given me a particular interest in interoperability and in how we can make better use of the technology and capabilities that already exist across the NHS.

As Delivery Manager, I spend a lot of my time bringing together the clinical, product, technical and delivery perspectives — turning complex problems into something we can actually deliver. I’m a big believer in collaboration, challenging assumptions and keeping sight of the real-world problem we’re trying to solve rather than starting with the technology.

Outside work, I’m happiest growing vegetables, looking after my chickens, and fighting what appears to be a permanently losing battle against the weeds in my garden. :carrot::chicken::seedling:

Looking forward to working with everyone — and always happy to chat about diagnostics, digital transformation, delivery, or the joys and frustrations of trying to grow your own food!

Hi all, I am the IG Lead for the NIR Tiger Team. I’ll be the main contact for organisations and Trusts dealing with any Information Governance/Data Privacy challenges and queries. It is my role to work with and support local organisational IG leads to onboard NIR processes safely and appropriately.

I have worked within healthcare for over 23 years, starting out in Business Intelligence management within the NHS for over ten years and, subsequently, as a Business Intelligence Strategy and Governance consultant for the last 13 years. I am passionate about the power of data to improve healthcare research, delivery and administration, and believe that this must be achieved without sacrificing data privacy and individual rights. I see the governance role as ensuring we share data safely, rather than as a blocker to data sharing.

Outside work, I love spending time with family going to gigs, watching films and following a variety of sports. I also spend time researching my extensive family tree and I am deep into a personal project to archive an extensive collection of our vintage family photos.

Always happy to chat about work or just generally!
