What technical guidance do I need to implement BaRS?

Start with the BaRS Implementation Guide and follow its seven implementation stages:

Analysis — review the principles, prerequisites, infrastructure, roles and responsibilities.

  1. BaRS Core — understand the common workflows, security, authorisation and error handling.
  2. BaRS Applications — review the Applications and use cases relevant to your proposed workflow.
  3. FHIR assets — review the relevant profiles, MessageDefinitions, bundles, examples and CodeSystems.
  4. Testing and environments — review Integration (INT), Production (PROD), TKW and the available API examples or ‘try’ functionality. The examples/try functionality is not a full sandbox environment.
  5. Assurance — complete the applicable Supplier Conformance Assessment List (SCAL) requirements.
  6. Deployment — complete deployment checks, end-to-end testing and go-live activities. The OpenAPI Specification is available directly from the BaRS OAS page and through the Implementation Guide.
