The decision of how to integrate with NIR is taken by the local Trust themselves. The options they will consider would include RIS, PAC, Integration layer/VNA at the Trust end and XCA/XDS and MHD/FHIR endpoints into NIR. In making these decisions Trusts will be advised by their own suppliers and must also consider:

A supplier system must be based on IHE architecture principles and be able to support a UI for viewing of images and reports and have a storage system for when they retrieve the report.

How their clinical workflows and practices are best implemented and managed locally.

The status of their systems and supplier contracts.

The best outcome for their strategic development of digital diagnostics roadmap(s) including local and national priorities. DDC Programme can assist them in these considerations.
